What is "Noble" Shungite ?
Shungite stones can be divided into three types depending on the carbon content. Type III (regular shungite) and type II (Petrovsky shungite) contain 30-50% and 50-70% of carbon respectively.
All the shaped products on the market like pyramids, spheres, bracelets, etc. are made of regular shungite since it is the most common type of shungite that can be easily shaped and polished.
Type I shungite is called noble or elite shungite and it contains from 90 to 98 per cent of organic carbon. Elite shungite nuggets have shiny silvery surfaces and high energetic potential due to the amount of carbon. The deposits of elite shungite are extremely scarce and it amounts for less than one per cent of all shungite found. It is the purest and rarest type of shungite which is commenly used to purify water.
Russian Shungite is about 2 billion years old. It comes from ancient deposits at the Zazhogino site in the Republic of Karelia, Russia - the only shungite deposit where this unique mineral is mined in its pure form.
